An Author's game

Well folks April ended without a word from me to you.

I have been under the weather and unable to write to my lovely blog readers. I wanted to let you know about a new scam targeting authors. I have had at least 3 or 4 phone calls a week from scammers wanting me to pay them to market my picture books. I got one just this morning, allegedly from a company in New York. Someone on the other end mumbles their name and said, “We have found your book to be filled with heart and would like to market it no cost to you.”

However, as the conversation continues, the free part would be for a month followed by a cost of $3,000.00, start-up the marketing of my book. I have received enough of these calls to now answer, “I can’t afford that.” Upon that they immediately drop the price and say how lovely my book is though they haven’t read it more than the synopsis. The first time I received a call I was excited, but as the calls continue
through the years it became a chore to answer the phone, though I do relish ‘playing’ with them, to see how low they will go in price. I love ending the call with “Thank you, I appreciate you thinking about me. Have a nice day, good-bye.”

Yes, it has become a game to see how much money I can talk them down. I don’t know how those scammers sleep at night. The most often targeted by scammers has been my children’s story, GRANNY’S COBBLER A COUNTING BOOK.

This picture was written for my granny’s 100th birthday from my childhood memories of the two of us picking blackberries and making blackberry cobbler. Those are precious memories for me and I would like to share this wholesome story about family life that might also be a catalyst for your family to discuss their own precious memories.
